![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() He got divorced some years before and his only child has died. Marcos Tejo, whose perspective is related by the narrator of the book, is a sad and tired man. But there are differences between them: the ones that are eaten cannot talk, because their vocal cords have been cut. If they cannot talk, they are considered not to be human. Animals don’t exist and the humans are divided into two groups: the ones that are eaten and the ones that kill and eat them. Pets have also disappeared in this dystopian world, located in the near future. After a big virus renders other animals inedible, humans need to find a solution to feed themselves, and eating other humans, a strange and special method of cannibalism, is the one they choose. The dead bodies are not from animals they are from humans. Marcos Tejo, the main character, runs a meat processing plant, but it is not a common one. Tender is the Flesh, written by Argentinian author Agustina Bazterrica (original title Cadáver exquisito), is not a pretty book: it’s a hard one to read. ![]()

If you are a fan of sports, hockey, or romantic stories, then you will definitely want to give this engaging series a try.Īlex is the first book in the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series by Sawyer Bennett. The debut was quickly followed by the second novel, Garrett. This series first started off with the publication of the debut novel, Alex. Sawyer Bennett is the creator and the author of the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series of fictional novels. ![]() The author says that she does not have many weaknesses but milk chocolate is one of the few that exists. She is married to her market researcher husband and together they share their life, home and bed with three very large dogs that tend to take over the bed. Sawyer Bennett is an American published author of fiction. ![]() ![]() ![]() There’s a perfect balance with her books, the romance is hot and heavy enough to keep you invested in the relationship, but everything else going on keeps you equally as invested in the story line. Tijan writes romance so well, because even though it’s a part of the plot, it doesn’t overpower all of the other plotlines which tie into everything so well. ![]() As the tension between her and Kash builds, and decades old secrets are revealed, will Bailey ever feel at home with her new life and family? But Bailey, a tech prodigy in her own right, isn’t one to sit around and wait for answers, she begins to dig, and is introduced to a whole different world. Her small-town life with her mother is switched to a life of the elite, moving to her estranged tech genius father Peter Francis’ compound for her own protection, and meeting her siblings and stepmother Quinn. The Insiders, Tijan’s first traditionally published book, had everything I’ve come to expect and love from her writing, and it set up the rest of the trilogy so well, leaving you wanting more but rounding off the story enough to keep you satisfied.īailey’s life is changed forever when an attempted kidnapping introduces her to a family she never knew she had. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s interesting, but for a biography of over 600 pages it’s a little sad to boil Monroe down to her men. I didn’t learn anything new about Monroe, simply about the men in her life. Unfortunately in lieu of Marilyn’s life and work Summers just seems content to jump from relationship to relationship. If you’d like an in-depth look at Monroe’s childhood I recommend Marilyn Monroe: Private and Confidential by Michelle Morgan. To hard-core fans, omitting this is fine since it’s been rehashed in other works. In fact, the book starts with her birth then quickly jumps to Monroe at 16. Goddess doesn’t tell a straight, chronological look at Monroe’s life. The strongest elements of Summers’ work is his research as well as his assertions about Marilyn’s demise. It’s all for the best as a majority of Goddess was well-known to me, and would have simply been repetitive. I wouldn’t call this a biography as Marilyn’s childhood is virtually eliminated. With that, Goddess walks the tightrope between lurid expose (on par with Porter), and intriguing government conspiracy. Since Porter doesn’t include a bibliography with his works it’s unknown if Summers was used or not. In reading the recent reprint of the book, I found myself reading several excerpts that were lifted, and placed, in Darwin Porter‘s recent book about Marilyn. ![]() ![]() Anthony Summers seems to have inspired future writers based off his 1984 book Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe. ![]() ![]() I've read the first two books, and book three came out late December 2007.
