Still, he received an impressive education, studying the piano under Ignaz Moscheles, who had known Beethoven and Mendelssohn. In contrast, he preferred to seek his inspiration in the works of more recent masters such as Chopin, Wagner, and Schumann, all of whom were revolutionary romantic composers.
